A championship for autonomous robots
On 20 June 2026 the Georgian Robotics Association (GRA) organised the Georgian Robotics Championship in SUMO and Line Follower at Radio City | District 4 in Tbilisi, as part of the Georgian STEAM & Robotics Championship.
The championship brought together innovators, engineers and robotics enthusiasts from all over Georgia who build robots that act on their own, with their own design and knowledge. Anyone from age 14 could take part, school teams included; teams had 2–5 members. The robots performed every task by themselves, with their own program — remote control was not allowed.
Categories
- Mini SUMO — robots up to 0.5 kg that fit in a 10×10 cm box;
- Mega SUMO — robots of 0.5–3 kg that fit in a 20×20 cm box;
- Line Follower Classic — robots up to 3 kg that fit in a 30×30 cm box.
A team could enter more than one category. In SUMO two autonomous robots try to push each other out of the ring; in Line Follower the robot follows a line as fast and as precisely as it can. More in our SUMO guide and our school robotics guide.
The road to Europe
The winning teams had the chance to represent Georgia at the European SUMO and Line Follower robotics championship in Romania — the three winning SUMO and Line Follower teams earned the right to go. For the association, local championships are an important way for young people to reach the international stage.
Next championship and registration: SUMO and Line Follower. Every association championship — in our history.
