Team Georgia at RoboChallenge 2026: How You Can Help

The three winning teams of the Georgian Robotics Championship are going to RoboChallenge 2026 in Bucharest. See what the team needs and how you can help.

Team Georgia at RoboChallenge for the first time

From 30 October to 2 November 2026, Team Georgia will take part for the first time in RoboChallenge 2026 — one of Europe's largest international robotics championships, held in Bucharest, Romania.

The team is made up of the three winning teams of the Georgian Robotics Association's (GRA) national championship. They will represent Georgia in three categories:

  • Mega Sumo — autonomous sumo robots of up to 3 kg;
  • Mini Sumo — small sumo robots of up to 500 g;
  • Line Follower — robots that race along a line as fast as they can.

The team brings together student and family teams — 12 participants in all — who will represent Georgia at an international championship of this size for the first time.

From the national championship to the international stage

The road to Bucharest started in Tbilisi. On 20 June 2026 GRA held the Georgian STEAM & Robotics Championship 2026, which brought together school pupils, students and young engineers from across the country: more than 80 teams, more than 5,000 visitors and three winning teams who earned the right to go to the European championship (the championship report: SUMO and Line Follower).

This is exactly why local championships matter to the association: they take young engineers to the international stage.

What RoboChallenge is

RoboChallenge is one of Europe's largest international robotics championships. The 2026 event is its 17th edition, bringing together hundreds of teams, young engineers and robotics enthusiasts from around the world:

  • 48 countries;
  • more than 326 teams;
  • more than 1,300 participants;
  • more than 483 robots.

At a championship like this our teams will meet some of the best teams from Europe and beyond — experience they will bring back to Georgia and share with other young people.

Why the team needs support

RoboChallenge's organisers do not cover the teams' travel, accommodation or preparation. Team Georgia needs 23,000 GEL to take part:

  • flights — the teams' travel to Bucharest and back;
  • accommodation — a hotel or lodging in Bucharest;
  • preparing the robots — components, technical upgrades and testing;
  • team branding — uniforms, materials and media content.

Every contribution counts — a small donation as much as robot parts or a service.

How you can help

  1. Donate online — give any amount on the project page: Team Georgia at RoboChallenge 2026. It also shows how much has been raised and who has stood by the team; you can donate anonymously too.
  2. Parts or services — if you can help with robot parts, travel, accommodation or another service, write to us.
  3. Share — can't help yourself? Share this article or the project page. Every share brings the team closer to a new supporter.

For companies. Support is flexible: you can fund the remaining amount in full or cover part of it. A partner company will be presented as the team's official partner:

  • its logo on the team's uniforms, banner and communication materials;
  • mentions on GRA's social media — team introductions, videos from the venue and a summary afterwards;
  • its brand linked to Team Georgia's first appearance at RoboChallenge 2026.

What comes next

Fundraising runs until 29 October, and the championship starts on 30 October. We will share the teams' preparation, footage from Bucharest and the results on the association's blog and social media.
