Both of Team Georgia's combat robots are in the round of 16

Both combat robots of Kokadama, one of Team Georgia's teams, are in the round of 16 at RoboChallenge 2026! At one of Europe's largest international robotics championships, held in Bucharest, Romania, Kokadama entered the 1.36 kg (3 lb) combat robot category with two robots — Kokadama4 and Kokadama5 — and both earned a place among the best 16.

It was no easy task: 56 robots from 12 countries compete in the category — among them teams from Mexico, Romania, Latvia, the United Kingdom, Spain, Greece, Poland, Brazil and Uzbekistan. Both of Georgia's robots belong to Kokadama.

Kokadama4: into the round of 16 with a knockout

Kokadama4 started the championship straight from the second round (it had no opponent in the first). In the second round it met D-Hex of the Mexican team CMR-UPIIZ, which had won its own first-round fight.

The tense fight ended in a knockout (KO): the opponent's robot fell apart, its lithium battery exploded and smoke filled the arena. With this win Kokadama4 went through to the round of 16 of the main bracket.

Kokadama5: to the round of 16 through the second-chance bracket

The 1.36 kg combat robot tournament runs in two brackets: a robot that loses once goes on fighting in the second-chance bracket and leaves the tournament only after a second defeat.

Kokadama5 lost its first fight to Delta V (Team IDKWID) from the United Kingdom, but did not give up and won fight after fight in the second-chance bracket:

  1. Kokadama5 — Princess Megatron 3000 (Arduidiots, Romania): a win;
  2. Kokadama5 — Gunter (AR-UPIITA, Mexico): a win.

With these two wins the team's second robot also reached the round of 16 — so both of Kokadama's robots were among the championship's best 16 at the same time.

The round of 16 fights

In the round of 16, Kokadama4 faced Pi v2 of the British team Scope Creep Robotics, and Kokadama5 faced O.M. (Overkill Machine) of the Moldovan team Gagauzian Project Group.

We will tell you about the round of 16 fights and Kokadama's next steps separately.

The official results of every fight are on the championship's website: Combat Robot 3lb — the tournament bracket.

Who Kokadama are and what a 1.36 kg combat robot is

Kokadama is one of Team Georgia's teams. Its members are Konstantine Kvaratskhelia, Kakhaber Kvaratskhelia, Davit Kvaratskhelia and Maia Tsulaia — congratulations on this success! Kokadama won Mini Sumo at the 2026 national championship (the championship's winners); read how the team got ready for Bucharest here: Team Georgia at RoboChallenge 2026.

1.36 kg (3 lb, "beetleweight") combat robots are remote-controlled machines that fight each other in a closed arena with clear walls. A robot may carry a spinning saw, forks or another weapon; the fight is won by the robot that stops its opponent from moving, or the one the judges rate stronger. See how such a robot is made in our guides: designing a combat robot and how to build a combat robot.
